You’ve probably heard that the best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. It sounds good, but is it? I’ve lost over 72 pounds without hunger excessive. I’ve learned that what you eat is more important than quantity. I’ve been more obese in my life. I used to think that it was doomed to be fat for the rest of my life. I was eating and exercise on the basis of a defective model, however.

To me taught me in elementary school to eat according to the food pyramid. Here is the breakdown of portions: * fats, oils and sweets use sparingly. * Milk, Yogurt and cheese 2 or 3 servings. * Fish, birds, eggs, legumes, nuts 2 or 3 servings. * Vegetables 3 to 5 servings. * Fruit 2 to 4 servings. * Bread, cereal, rice and pasta 6 to 11 servings.

This was the recommendation of my Government. While it’s eating a minimum number of servings, this diet did not work me. For simplicity and to illustrate what happened let us assume that I ate a good food for each category, and then figure the total of macronutrients content (in grams). * 0 0 0 Fat carbohydrates protein * 0 skim milk fat 24 carbohydrates 17 proteins * less oily skin, chicken breast 6 0 carbohydrates 33 proteins * broccoli 1 fat carbohydrate 4 protein 11 * Apple 1 41 carbohydrates fat protein * 9 120 bread fat carbohydrates 30 proteins this adds to 17 grams of fat, 196 grams of carbohydrates and 85 grams of protein. Converting this to the total calories of: * 153 calories from fat * 784 calories carbohydrates * 340 calories from proteins * Total calories 1277, the heart of the problem of this diet is that it is based on the consumption of carbohydrates. Our body burns fat by default. When we eat carbohydrates our blood sugar level increases. Our bodies release insulin to cope with this increase. Insulin, in an effort to return to our bodies to normal, gives you signals to our body to do two things: 1. burning carbohydrates rather than fat. 2 Convert carbohydrates into fat. When we eat a diet that is primarily based on the levels of consumption of carbohydrates, insulin may be high. High levels of insulin makes us have hunger and weak when sugar is depleted. This is not normal. Eating this way opened my appetite. End up losing weight with this diet, but I seemed to be a constant struggle. I finally gain weight and feels like a failure. The fault was in the plan. Now I’m eating a diet low in carbohydrates. My insulin levels remain low so it as less because I’m not as hungry.
